On the morning of October 26th, the Department of Tourism and Culture held the “2018 School Year Skills Competition Interim Report and Hotel Service Simulation Competition” in the school hall. All 18 students and teachers participated in the professional department activities.

The main goal of this activity is to show the results of the training of the skill competition team of each major to the 18th-level freshmen. The heads of the professional departments will comment and encourage the results of the training; and the guidance of the 18-level freshmen on professional skills learning. Encourage students to learn professional skills, but also need to actively improve the technical level, strive to join the professional skills training team, for the school, for their own glory, promote the Lingnan traditional culture, but also for their future academic and employment development lay a solid foundation.

First of all, the contestants of the tea and tea marketing profession were shown. They showed the results of hard training and interpreted the perfect combination of tea and performing arts to fully demonstrate the connotation of tea culture and service.

Afterwards, Mr. Chen Limin, the head of the beverage department, commented and encouraged the students of the tea skill competition team. At the same time, they also throw olive branches to the students of the tourism department. All students who are interested in tea culture are welcome to join the tea art club and strive to become a team member. Improve personal artistic accomplishment, promote Chinese traditional tea culture, and strive for honor for individuals and schools.

This was followed by a second simulation of high-star hotel operations and management students. The 18th-level tourism and culture freshmen showed the skills of the hotel service city competition. The players’ appearances set an example for hotel service experts. Under the guidance of the school and professional teachers, the contestants showcased professional skills such as grooming instruments, Chinese banquet tables, Chinese-style rooms and beds, as well as etiquette, professional English, adaptability, psychological endurance, resilience, verbal ability, etc. A variety of professional abilities that benefit for life.

Mr. Huang Dan, the head of the high-star hotel operation and management section, commented on the performance of the contestants: the 3-minute operation time of the room competition is shorter than the sprint, and the 18-minute operation time of the restaurant competition is longer than the long-distance running. They are not only like iron people. Compared with physical strength, it also involves 86 skill points and 220 knowledge points. It also requires more questions than operation, theory and verbal answering. Therefore, every player who has been built is a talented person in the hotel industry. It is very helpful for them to find employment and career improvement in the future. At the same time, they encourage students who are willing to participate in various professional competitions in the first grade to win glory for the school and lay a solid foundation for their career planning.

Finally, the participants who participated in the tour guide skill contest showed their explanation skills. The players’ dignified and eloquent explanations made the students in the audience listen carefully. During the period, due to equipment reasons, the player's explanation was interrupted many times. However, she stood still and calmly on the stage. She said the guide words and did not receive any influence. This is the result of long-term training.

He told the students that the classmates on the stage have experienced the battles of the city, the province, and the country. However, looking back at the first year of the year, it is similar to the students present here, and they are the same starting line in language expression and professional skills. However, after entering professional study and hard training, I have achieved excellent results today, which is inseparable from the teacher's guidance and personal efforts. I hope that all students should take their professional skills as an important goal in the secondary vocational learning stage, and strive to compete for better internships and employment opportunities with good professional skills.
